Students build a DNA template, then separate the strands to begin a replication fork. They learn about the importance of RNA primers, leading and lagging strands and proofreading. Roles of the enzymes involved in replication are explained in context. Meselson and Stahl’s classic experiments that revealed semi-conservative replication can also be modeled. A great way to revise DNA structure and base pairing.
