Product Description

Cat no MDNA-RNAi-162

In 2006, the Nobel Prize was won for discovering RNA interference (RNAi). RNAi uses small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to block gene expression by causing mRNA destruction. Cells use the same system to fight viruses. Scientists have begun using siRNAs to selectively block gene expression experimentally and are now conducting clinical trials using siRNAs against a variety of medical conditions.

Students will learn how RNAi is used to control gene expression and for viral defence and how scientists are using siRNA to create new medicines. A very clear way to teach this topic.
